Experience

I am currently teaching 1-2 grade ESE self-contained classroom at Princeton House Charter School in Orlando, Florida. Princeton House Charter School is a separate day school serving children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This is my sixth year teaching children in Exceptional Student Education. Watching my students grow and learn more everyday has been both rewarding and challenging. I have obtained endorsements in Autism Spectrum Disorder and in ESOL, while completing the General Knowledge, Professional Education, Exceptional Student Education, and Elementary Education portions of the FTCE. As a teacher in ESE I provide a safe, exciting, and appropriate learning environment for all students in my classroom. I graduated the Florida State University in Spring 2009 with a Master’s and Bachelor’s of Science degree in Emotional Disturbances/Learning Disabilities. During my time in the program I have 3 years experience in various Special Education classrooms acquiring over 500 service learning hours. These experiences have given me the ability to adapt to a variety of educational settings. Skills acquired include extensive knowledge in the direct instruction method, and the ability to perform the assessments of students. During field work in the resource room setting, I learned to appreciate the sense of accomplishment, personal achievement and socialization the students gain in the classroom. For many years friends and family have remarked upon my innate ability to teach in a natural way.
